The Power Of Pause

The Power of Pause

I sat on my desk quietly and was about to work on a mini course, when I realised that I actually want to write a blog for my website. The temptation to use ChatGPT was strong and I thought to test my writing skills and use the blank page to really write my thoughts. That, my friend, is the power of PAUSE.

You will find yourself in annoying and triggering situations several times a day. The paucity of time in making decisions. The rush to go from point A to B. Every time you would just take action and may also realise that you could have taken the action differently. How so? Simple – you just reacted. Didn’t think through it. How could you when there is always action relaying every second of your minutes, filling twenty-four hours of your day. You got that much energy only. It’s exhausting.

Pause is boring, especially in today’s world when all we do is switch from one device to other. Move from one point to another. Keep doing, keep going – calling it Hustle. I’ll tell you few things and if you choose to do as I suggest, you’ll feel the power of pause and power within yourself.

Let’s get to it.

Situation 1 – Someone at home or office or a commute makes a remark of any sorts and instead of replying you take a pause. What happens is – you take your power. The other person is annoyed when no reaction is received. They’ll give up and if you still choose to respond still, the response will surprise you as it will be a wiser and calmer one.

Situation 2 – You get another invite for the office meeting on another packed day. Instead of responding with a Yes or No, you wait and think – what are you going to contribute to the meeting or what are you going to gain from the meeting? If the answer is a clear fact – then you won’t feel exhausted attending that meeting or guilty of denying it.

Situation 3 – You follow a set routine and you feel empty. Try to think of your ideal day from the moment you get up till you go to sleep. While you think, avoid all distraction. Now, list it down and then just follow the ideal routine as much as you can to have better days in your life.

Situation 4 – You have to make a decision. Before making it, list down all the available options. Then write pros and cons of each option. Choose one with the pros having the most weightage. Thank me later.

Pause allows you to be creative, allows you to come from the place of inner wisdom. It plays a vital role in our health too. When we pause, we breathe better. Breathing right always has a bigger and better impact on our overall health. So, do yourself a favour and pause often.
